How to Make the Internet’s Most Debated Shoes Look Good

How to Make the Internet’s Most Debated Shoes Look Good

Every season, there’s a handful of fashion pieces that divide the internet. Are they genius? Are they ugly? Are they so-ugly-they’re-cute? TikTok decides — and this year, three pairs of shoes in particular have the comment sections fighting for their lives: the UGG Zora, UGG Caspian, and Clarks Pace. Whether you’re team “obsessed” or team “absolutely not,” here’s the truth: The “ugly” shoe trend is IN and the girls who get it, get it

These silhouettes are bold, fun, unapologetic, and honestly the most comfortable things you’ll ever wear. And with the right styling, they go from controversial to “wait, these are actually really cute!”

We’re going to break down how to style the internet’s most divisive shoes, also known as the shoes we’re proudly obsessed with here at Hansen’s:

UGG Zora

The UGG Zora is a ballet flat with a plush, sheepskin-lined interior, blending the structure of a chic flat with the soul and softness of an UGG. TikTok is divided because some love it as the perfect cozy, transitional ballet flat, while others wonder why a ballet flat needs fur at all, calling it the “tinkerbell shoe”...I’d take that as a compliment.

The hype reached a new level when Mariah the Scientist was spotted wearing them at this year’s UGG Season launch party, turning the Zora into an instant must-have. Weeks later, Pink Pantheress was seen wearing them in London, which ultimately cemented its status as a viral, influencer-approved shoe since then.

Styled intentionally, the Zora can be incredibly versatile. Pair it with loose trousers and a fitted sweater for a clean-girl outfit, or go cozy with slouchy legwarmers, a mini skirt, and an oversized chunky sweater for a more festive look. For a night out, sheer tights, a satin mini, and a cropped knit can elevate the shoe while keeping the silhouette soft and feminine. If you’re all about being comfy and casual, they’d honestly go with leggings and your favorite oversized crewneck.

UGG Caspian

The UGG Caspian, available in Tasman or Tazz versions, is a bold statement shoe that features real calf-hair in spotted prints and UGGplush lining. The Caspian style is polarizing for obvious reasons: some love the rich “glamour” and playful statement it brings to an outfit, while others feel like it’s too loud or outdated.

In contemporary fashion lingo, “glamour” isn't about Hollywood-style gowns or red carpets, it’s more of a street-style reinterpretation of bold, luxurious textures and prints. Cheetah print, animal fur textures, and metallic finishes are the hallmark of this aesthetic which has been an ongoing fashion trend for several generations as it has been historically associated with high fashion and opulence. This makes the Caspian such a controversy. We call it timeless.

To style it in a minimalist way, pair it with black leggings, white tee, and oversized blazer to let the shoes be the star. For a more trend-forward look, pair them with denim or a cargo skirt, baby teem and a faux-fur jacket. For casual, cozy days, the Caspian works with wide-legged sweats and a matching oversized hoodie. Neutral tones and clean basics help balance the bold print, ensuring that the UGG Caspian feels intentional rather than chaotic.

Clarks Pace

The Clarks Pace is a walking-technology shoe designed for comfort, with a breathable woven upper, and APMA-approved foot support. TikTok loves it for its everyday functionality, though some mock it as a “dad walking shoe.” But chunky, utilitarian designs will always be fashionable through streetwear. Afterall, comfort is fashion.

Styled thoughtfully, the Pace works across a range of aesthetics. Pair it with high socks, an athletic skirt or leggings, and a zip-up track jacket for clean athleisure. For streetwear or normcore vibes, straight denim, a crewneck sweatshirt, and a puffer vest make it look fashion-forward without trying too hard. Minimalist outfits with wide trousers, a mockneck top, and a longline coat can also work, letting the Pace feel purposeful and polished.

The trick with these polarizing shoes is all about owning them.

Each pair makes a statement, sparks conversation, and shows personality. The cozy UGG Zora, the cheetah-print Caspian, and the sporty Clarks Pace all have their own vibe, and when you style with intention, they stop feeling divisive and start feeling iconic. What’s your take on these trending shoes?
